NORTHANTS WRITERS’ INK
We are a creative writing group based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. We meet approximately every three weeks on a Monday evening in the Friends’ Meeting House, St. John’s Street, Wellingborough, NN8 4LG. Meetings begin at 7pm and usually finish by 10pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Street parking is available outside the venue or a short walk away in the Jackson Lane free car park on the opposite side of the High Street. If you are a writer who would like to join Northants Writers’ Ink, you must in the first place contact us by email  attaching a few words about yourself and a sample of your writing (about 1,000 words). Please do not attend a meeting unannounced or without previous agreement, as you will not be able to participate. Meeting fees are currently £3.00 for each meeting, payable on the night, or £45.00 for the whole year (which saves £6.00 overall).

WINNERS OF THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY WRITING COMPETITION

1st prize (£100) went to Jo for her story, “The Hairiest High”. 2nd prize (£50) went to Chris for his story, “More”. 3rd= prize (£12.50) went to Emma for her story, “Come with Me”. 3rd= prize (£12.50) went to Gemma for her story, “Looking for the Boys”. We welcome writers with enthusiasm and commitment who are able to contribute to the group through their writing and their support for fellow members. Group meetings are inspiring and challenging and include either workshops on relevant aspects of writing or the presentation of pieces written by members in response to challenges. These challenges are set by individual members and may be based on one of the workshops, thus ensuring the ongoing development of our writing skills. Presenting your piece out loud to the group and receiving constructive feedback also provides valuable experience for members. Our aim is to support the development of our members, individually and with our group projects, such as the anthologies of our collected short stories which are published and can be purchased on the shop page. We organise an ambitious programme of talks and events as well as an internal writing competition each year.   We average about ten members at each meeting, offering a wide range of life and writing experience. Because the group is open to tackling adult themes, membership is for over 18s only. The group offers an exciting calendar of events. Go the meetings page to see the 2024 calendar. If you are serious about writing and want to belong to a dedicated group in the Northants area,  contact us by email here
